how that plays out. and then ami bera against dan lundgren, a long-time republican. it could go either way that long-time republican could lose his seat. then my favorite, tammy duckworth versus joe walsh. well joe, it was nice knowing you. why is he down so much? it may be comments like this. >> they wants the hispanic vote. they want the hispanic dependent on government. just like they have the african-americans dependent on government. >> there is no exemptions. >> don't blame the marketplace for the mess we're in now. i'm tired of hearing this crap. >> pick this president up, pat him on the head and say son son, son. >> cenk: well, we're about to pat you on the head and say

obviously all of new york is suffering through storm sandy and i can give you the latest. in fact, it just made ground fall in southern new jersey as we speak. the winds are still up to 60 to 80 mph. we've got coastal flooding and 2 million people without power already. on top of that we just also heard unfortunately we have our first storm-related fatality in maryland. so obviously the storm is very, very serious and it should not be surprising to those who have been listening about climate change. unfortunately the media hasn't. reporters as they're hit in the phrase with this storm. >> they're really worried about what is behind me. >> we've been pounded for 40 continuous hours. >> now you can barely stand up.

change. if you remember, the climate change was asked by none of the moderators in any of the presidential or vice presidential debates. when candy crowly was asked about that, she was one of the moderators of the presidential debate. here's what she said. >> climate change, i had that question for all you climate change people. we just--again we knew the economy was still the main thing. so you knew you wanted to go with the economy. >> cenk: oh, you climate change people. it's like a little niche that care about the planet, that care about giant storms hitting us left and right and care about record temperatures being broken and record floods and record floods. you climate change people, we didn't have time for you. that's only the planet. that's the media ignoring planet change. how about the republicans? well, of course they think it's a joke. listen to what romney said during his convention acceptance

speech. >> president obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans. [ laughing ] and to heal the planet. my promise is to help you and your family. [ cheering ] >> cenk: unless of course your family is in the middle of hurricane sandy good luck to you. i'm not going to help you at all. they literally think the climate change is a punch line. the planet, it's getting warmer. isn't that funny as your family is in great danger over it. ha ha, ha, ha, yeah, really funny. really appreciate it. who are the people who are putting any of this into doubt in the first place? of course, the republicans. listen to this crap that they pedal out of "daily basis"."

>> obama: we're not moving as fast as we need to. this is an issue that further generations, mtv viewers are going to have to be dealing with even more than the older generation. this is a critical issue. there is a huge contrast in this campaign between myself and governor romney. i'm surprised it didn't come up in one of the debates. >> cenk: here's how it could have come up, if you brought it up. did you notice, you mtv viewers i guess you care about this because you'll be around when things get really bad. although things are getting bad now. and he said he has a much different record than mitt romney. let me show you the good portions of his policies. he would double fuel economy for cars by 2025. he would increase solar and wind energy and eliminate $4 billion in annual tax breaks for oil and gas companies. he's tried to do that, and of course the republicans have blocked it. that's the good. let's show you the bad. the copenhagen summit which so

many people had great hopes for that pretty much got nothing done. they had a voluntary agreement--wow. he has basically abandoned cap and trade. no question the republicans fought him on that, but there was no second effort at all. he has approved the southern half of the keystone pipeline and i tell you the minute he's elected--not the minute, i like to be accurate--but when he's re-elected he'll approve the northern half as well. and of course he brags how he has done more drilling than george w. bush. which is true. now here is president obama talking about in the second presidential debate about how great he is at oil drilling. >> obama: we have increased oil production to the highest levels in 16 years. natural gas production is the highest it's been in decades. we have seen increases in coal production.

>> romney: more drilling, more permits and licenses. >> obama: yes, we still continue to open up new areas of drilling. we continue to make it a priority for us to go after natural gas. >> romney: we're going to bring that pipeline in from canada. how in the world the president said no to that pipeline, i will never know. >> obama: we have opened up public plans. we're drilling more on public lands than the previous administration and the previous president was an oil man. >> romney: more drilling and more permits and licenses. >> obama: we made the largest investment in clean coal technology. >> romney: in the last four years you cut lances on federal land and waters in half. >> obama: not true. >> romney: how much did you cut them. >> obama: not true. governor, we produced more oil. >> cenk: yeah, i'm more pro-oil more pro-coal and then i brag that i drill more than president

bush. and then bragging how romney isn't pro coal enough. i was. >> listening to governor romney talking about how he was the champion of coal. when he was the governor, he stood in front of a coal fire plant and said this plant kills people. now he's running around talking like he's mr. coal. come on. come on. you know that's not on the level. does anybody ever actually look at that guy and think he's really into coal? >> cenk: ha, ha, ha, romney is not into coal enough. if you elect an democrat we'll really be into coal. even into coal even more. climate change, mtv who gives a damn about that. and did it help? did your strategy a piece oil

and coal, did it help? no super pacs run by the coal and oil industries are running this ad against president obama any way. >> we can build on that rock for generations to come. but our current leadership in washington has taken us down a different path. a path paved by heavy-handed epa regulation. a path relying on facts not fuel. a path leading away from energy independence. a path that fails to recognize low-cost energy and desirable high-paying jobs. >> cenk: yeah, nonsense. the reality is president obama has been terrific in weakening regulations. let me give a quote from the "washington post." obama has actually finalized fewer regulations than either clinton or bush at the same point in their terms. thank you for being more right wing than those guys. how about the issue of drilling and coal? look at this, 241 million more

oil barrels under president obama's first three years than under the last three years of george w. bush. 75% increase in drilling rigs from 29 to 2011. u.s. oil production at the highest level since 1997. and most permits for deep water drilling since '07 even though we had the bp disaster happen on his watch. you're not going to outdrill. you're not going to out-coal president obama. how is it that climb climate change working for president obama? would you brag about it? why do they do it, it's the money, lebowsky, of course it's the money. look at how much the oil company spent, $167,000 spent every day lobbying congress. every $1 spent on lobbying is

equivalent to $30 worth of tax breaks that they get from the american people. and finally where did the money go? it went largely to romney any way. was it worth it for $720,000? romney got $4.7 million from the oil cop. the republicans win any way. and we all lose because we're right now in the middle of climate change, and we don't have any politicians or almost any media who give a dam or plan to do anything about it. that's unfortunately the cold, hard reality. all right now when we come back we got a lot more for you on the storm. in fact, here is the view of new york. the flooding has begun. just ignore it because oil companies will make it all better. the answer to more drilling. and then bill clinton

♪ omney's oldest son and his fundraiser, and they're a little connected to him. i can show you more connections. mitt romney put $10 million in seed money it, and he was their featured speaker meaning he told all of his friends and connected folks don't worry these are my guys. go ahead and invest with them and giving strategic advice, donors and investors in this company. you can see how they're connected. there are more connections. do you remember the guy who threw the boca raton party where mitt romney made the 47%

comment? he said that 80% of scooters did not meet medicare requirement. the good news under president obama's healthcare program we would save that $72 million. we would note give it in fraudulent claims. the american taxpayers saves half a billion dollars. mark leader do not like that. they want it to go from the american taxpayer and straight into their pocket and then call on you through the government. how much has the scooter store given in lobbying? they've given $900,000. i wonder why they care so much about mitt romney winning. leaders given romney $300,000 and restore our future pac romney's pac $225,000. by the way, without the medicare wasting money on this, as we

have already found out they are scooter store would go out of business. these are these great free market capitalists that actually have terrible companies but they get propped up by the government, and they get people like mitt romney in office saying bad government, what a joke right mark? here is another $500 million from the american people. run your crappy company based on whatever contract you get. let's go to lee fong who wrote the story about it, the community writer, the erring fell low at the nation institute as well. lee, tell me about the cap first of all before we go to the scooter stores of the world how they are connected and how it could make a difference if mitt romney is elected to those investors. >> thanks for having me. a lot of folks are concerned

that donors will be able to cash out on the romney presidency. but basic hi they've positioned themselves as a nexus for this type of crony capitalism that you're talking about. a lot of tag romney's business partners are invested in all types of different companies that are predicated on billing the government, many of them have been accused of overbilling or defrauding the government like the scooter store. whoever occupies the white house next year basically whatever they decide to do will make or break these companies business models or tag romney's profits. >> cenk: lee, as i look at that, and i think of all the stories we covered on "the young turks." a local paper in business, texas they say they would have been out of business if rick perry hadn't

given them money from texas. and then the largest medicare fraud in american history how are we not seeing that the guys who are for the real crony capitalists are the same republicans who would benefit their donors but benefit themselves. what blind trust? don't they know that romney put $10 million in tag romney's, his son's company. >> he talks a good game on the campaign trail about smaller government shrinking the welfare rolls, but really this election if you study the different donaries to the romney campaign, and super pac, it's about shifting government resources and giving taxpayer money to profit earring firms. it's not just rick scott's firm or the scooter store. some of these companies like the for-profit college industry which is infamous for not only screwing over students but

defrauding the government. these are billions of dollars of taxpayer monies going into the pockets of private equity firms and large companies. they're very dependent on what the government does. whoever occupies the white house can open or close the spigot of taxpayer money to these companies. that's the underbelly of this election. we talk about the war on women and these issues, but by the end of the day these executive orders are really what is at stake and why many of these donors are getting involved in this election. >> cenk: i want to touch on one last article that you wrote lee. it's not just american donors, but it's foreign donors, as well. you wrote about how saudi arabian businesses might be influencing our election. >> one big spender in the election is a trade association it's called the american petroleum institute. despite the name "american," the

board member is a saudi lobbyist he's a saudi national and he's help to go direct the american petroleum effort. they've been caught in transferring cash to these 501 c groups that are blanketing the states with ads. it's a convoluteed web but essentially 501 c groups can accept foreign money and be run by foreign lobbyists. that presents a massive loophole that allows foreign corporations and foreign donors to get involved in domestic election as soon as great, not just american companies buy our politicians but so do foreign companies and foreign investors run our politics as well. lee, thank you for joining us on "the young turks." >> thanks for having me. >> cenk: no problem at all.

so this storm is very serious. that's why i was so angry earlier in the show about the fact that they have done nothing on climate change, unfortunately, for a long, long time. to end the show on a lighter note let's talk about republican hip treasehypocrisy. the king is joe dejarlais. he is pro-life and then we find out he has asked one of his mistresses to get an abortion--oops. and then another mistress came out. >> the pro-life supporter had an affair with a patient a decade ago. after learning she was pregnant urged her to get an abortion. >> and now? >> tennessee's oldest and largest conservative organization is mounting a campaign to force the regular he's nation of scott desjarlais.
